Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – They have been at this for a few weeks....let's force all to talk before there is multiple editors being blocked. Moxy🍁 03:28, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. None of this for a couple of days. Maybe someone took this edit summary to heart. Daniel Case (talk) 04:19, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary pending changes: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent addition of self-published work from IP hopper. Lone-078 (talk) 06:19, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Pending-changes protected for a period of one month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 04:24, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary pending changes: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent addition of self-published work from IP hopper. Lone-078 (talk) 06:20, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Pending-changes protected indefinitely. It's coming off a year's semi. Daniel Case (talk) 04:26, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent unsourced content additions and disruptive editing, primarily from IPs. Magitroopa (talk) 08:32, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

IPs are still persistently adding unsourced content, despite multiple reverts from other editors. Magitroopa (talk) 17:49, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    Semi-protected indefinitely. Daniel Case (talk) 04:31, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – More articles targeted by socks of Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Caspidarya. HistoryofIran (talk) 09:42, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Relevant to WP:ARBPIA - thanks in advance!. Smallangryplanet (talk) 09:57, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. No edits in over a month; group is long defunct and not really a primary topic in the current conflict. Daniel Case (talk) 04:41, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Covered under WP:ARBPIA, thanks in advance!. Smallangryplanet (talk) 09:59, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Also relevant to WP:ARBPIA sanctions. Thanks!. Smallangryplanet (talk) 10:11, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary pending changes: Persistent vandalism – Not all recent IP edits are clearly bad faith. Entranced98 (talk) 10:40, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Block evasion by socks of Yamamomo kakijiroo (see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Yamamomo kakijiroo/Archive), promotional socks targeting Naver Corporation. Looks like they just noticed that semiprotection expired last week. MrOllie (talk) 13:28, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – More IP editors persistently re-adding unsourced and sometimes outright fake endorsements, and party policy positions three or more years out of date, which have been repeatedly reverted. Has been slow but ongoing since last protection was lifted. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 13:47, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Ongoing block evasion and addition of unsourced content; page recently unprotected but now subject to same disruptive editing after end of block. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 15:00, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent disruptive editing by anonymous editor(s). livelikemusic (TALK!) 15:23, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:ARBPIA. 🌙Eclipse (she/they/all neostalkedits) 17:26, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I do not think this is an unambiguous ARBPIA case, and I do not see any recent disruption. I would decline at the moment but it is probably good to wait for a second opinion. Ymblanter (talk) 19:58, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Declined for now, given the above. I think that this article fits better with American politics 2 than with Palestine–Israel. I therefore think that this isn't strictly within the Arab–Israeli conflict topic area. Sdrqaz (talk) 02:10, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – ARBPIA. JayCubby 00:55, 5 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

(Non-administrator comment) Presumably the intended page is Bensonhurst, Brooklyn (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) and not the given redirect. I don't really see the need to protect the page just yet given the rate of disruption so far, and it will not stop the user responsible since they are actively disrupting a numerous other articles with fake demographic information their recent edits have now largely been reverted on known ranges If I were still active and had the time I would actively recommend holding off for the moment to gather more data and lock down some patterns and ranges using a known repeat target. However I don't have the time these years to actively monitor this or really any pages, and especially not in the coming month. If someone else wants to take this on fine, otherwise it can be protected but it's unlikely to reduce disruption to any significant degree. 184.152.65.118 (talk) 03:48, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Because they easily bypass the 5 edits one by making a few random edits. HistoryofIran (talk) 10:09, 5 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Sdrqaz (talk) 02:10, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations – Lots of changes to the date of birth without proper sourcing, even ignoring whitespace instructions to provide sourcing for DOB changes. Prior protections expired and it appears the page went about a month before going right on back to the same problems it appears to have been protected for. This was originally at EFR, and I am referring here. EggRoll97 (talk) 17:04, 5 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    (non-admin comment) - Support – Thanks! twisted. (user | talk | contribs) 19:12, 5 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
(non-admin comment) - Strong Support – This has seriously gone far enough. Too many users trying to change the birthdates on her page, but none of them are even trying to find sources for the DOB changes.
Personally I would have preferred it if an edit filter could be setup to stop the unsourced DOB changes, so that those who want to make other changes to her page can do so. Which is why I requested that an edit filter be setup first.
But as that apparently isn't an option, temporary semi-protection would be the next best thing. I think the page should be semi-protected for a longer period of time this time than last time. Since the 15-17 age debate is clearly still at an all time high. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 06:10, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Protection isn't needed for issues with a single IP/small range. Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
